How should I store Petterm products?

Petterm products are shelf-stable, but proper storage extends their potency to the full window printed on the package.

The basics

• Temperature — room temperature is fine (60–80°F / 15–27°C). Keep away from direct sun and heat sources like radiators or stoves.
• Humidity — store in a dry place. Bathrooms and kitchens near a kettle are the two most common mistakes.
• Sealed — keep the box closed for powders, and the chew jar tightly sealed after each use.

Powders (sachets)

Powders come in pre-portioned aluminum sachets, which protect the contents from air and moisture. Once you tear a sachet open, use the full dose that day — partial sachets lose potency quickly because the active ingredients (probiotics especially) are sensitive to air.

Store the unopened sachets in the original box. The box keeps them organized by dose and adds a second layer of light protection.

Soft chews (jar)

The chew jar has an inner foil seal — once removed, just keep the screw-top lid tight after each use. Store the jar upright in a cabinet or pantry.

Shelf life

Every product has a manufacturing date and a “best by” date printed on the package. Most products are good for 18–24 months from manufacturing. Past the “best by” date the supplement isn’t harmful, but the active levels may have dropped below the labeled potency.

What about freezing or refrigerating?

Neither is necessary. Freezing the powders can introduce condensation that affects the probiotic content; refrigerating the chews makes them harder for dogs to chew. Stick with room-temperature pantry storage.
