Petterm formulas are made for healthy adult cats and dogs. They’re manufactured in FDA-registered, cGMP-certified US facilities and third-party tested for purity and potency before release. That said, there are situations where you should talk to your vet before starting.

When to ask your vet first

  • Kittens and puppies (under 12 months) — their digestive and nutritional needs are different from adult pets. Start supplements only after your vet’s go-ahead.
  • Pregnant or nursing pets — additional ingredients can affect milk composition. Defer supplements until weaning is complete.
  • Pets on prescription medication — particularly for kidney, liver, or thyroid conditions. The probiotic and fiber blend in our Hairball Powder is generally compatible with most medications, but it’s worth a quick check.
  • Pets with known medical conditions — diabetes, IBD, chronic UTIs, autoimmune conditions. Ask your vet whether the specific ingredients in our formulas are appropriate.
  • Cats with known taurine sensitivity — relevant for our Tear Stain Powder. Check the label and discuss with your vet.

Breed considerations

All Petterm formulas are safe across breeds. Dosage adjusts by body weight, not breed.

A few breed notes worth mentioning:

  • Persian, Himalayan, Ragdoll, and other long-haired cats are particularly good candidates for our Hairball Powder.
  • Bulldogs, Maltese, Poodles, Shih Tzus, and other tear-stain-prone breeds are common Tear Stain Powder users.
  • Working breeds (Labradors, Retrievers, Shepherds, Pit Bulls, etc.) are the most common Muscle Gain Chew users — especially during recovery from injury or in their senior years.

If anything seems off

Stop use if you see any signs of distress — vomiting, diarrhea lasting more than 48 hours, unusual lethargy. Most “first-week stomach adjustment” passes on its own, but if it doesn’t, email support@petterm.com and we’ll help. We accept returns on opened products if your pet doesn’t tolerate the formula.
